IRIS PRODUCTIONS
FINAL PIECE
The 'Iris' music video originated from the idea of combining a narrative-based music video within the indie rock genre which usually is dominated by non-linear narratives, focusing on the band itself playing in the video. In order to make this possible I made my artist a singer who writes a song about her ex-boyfriend and how she reminisces about her past memories with him. This is clearly seen throughout the video with the use of flashbacks white and a black and white filter to highlight to the audience that the events occurred in the hast. The use of the filter may give older audiences a nostalgic feeling seeing as old film was purely black and white. The flashback help give context to the narrative while they slowly reveal the backstory of the song.

This is the only occasion in the music video where we see the 'ex-boyfrind' in colour highlighting the segnificance of the first moment inwhich they met. Additionally, the coloured filter connotes that 'Kie' is not remembering this encounter as a memory, instead living through it as she writes this song

TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for indie rock music is typically young adults and teenagers, ranging in age from their teens to their late 30s. Indie-rock fans tend to be more interested in alternative and experimental music and may be drawn to the genre for its focus on independent, underground, and non-mainstream music. They often seek out music that is authentic, creative and has a unique sound or perspective. Additionally, indie rock fans tend to be culturally and socially aware and may be drawn to outspoken artists about political or social issues.
This music video is targeted to all genders but may appeal more to a female audience due to the romantic themes embedded throughout. As well as this the genre of a narrative indie rock crossover pays homage to 90s music videos usually including romantic interests, which may feel nostalgic to viewers between the ages of 25-30, while the video itself targets more generation Z as well as millennials.
DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE
Interestingly, due to the nature of this video, target audiences from other genres and demographics may leak into this video, shifting it from a more mass audience product rather than being niche. This may happen as many Pop music videos include similar romantic narratives, For example, Talor Swift's 'All To Well' music video.
