EDITING PROCESS
Due to difficulties with my Adobe account, I ended up purchasing an editing app called 'Cap-Cut', which is famously used for TikTok edits. I selected this app as I was hoping to add the same editing style to my video, Including fast cuts that are synchronized to the music, and layered frames, all conventions of modern-day TikTok editing.
JUMP CUTS
The main form of editing weaved throughout my music video is the use of jump cuts to highlight time changes. This was done to stay on time with the song as well as engage the audience as there is a sense of satisfaction given to the audience when the video perfectly fits the music. By removing a portion of a shot, the jump cut creates the impression of a sudden shift in time or a jump forward in the narrative. This technique is used to compress time, allowing for quicker pacing in the video, or to indicate a passage of time between two related shots.
FLASH-BACKS
The flashbacks in the video provide context, deepen character development, and enhance the emotional impact of the video. The black-and-white filter shows scenes that have occurred in the past, and are inserted into the narrative in a non-linear fashion, often with the use of visual or audio cues.
The primary use of flashbacks in the narrative music video is to provide backstory and context for the characters and the love story being depicted. By showing events that occurred before the main narrative, the video can give the target audience a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations. This helps the viewer better connect with the characters and become more invested in their journey.
Due to difficulties with my adobe account, I was not able to edit any of my products with its wide range of professional apps. Due to this I did some research online and ended up purchasing the 'Cap Cut app which is commonly known on social media platforms as an editing app with a wide range of editing formats, although not as professional as Premiere Pro
