DIGI-PAK FINAL PIECE

DIGI-PAKs are crucial for the success of an album or single release, due to the fact that they create an initial impression or visual representation of the music and its themes. The digipak cover is often the first thing a potential consumer sees before deciding whether or not to engage and purchase the music, hence playing a compelling role in catching their attention and drawing them in.

Digipaks are an important par of an artist's branding and identity, as they convey a sense of style, personality, and artistic vision, furthermore, help to differentiate an artist from others in the same genre and create a recognizable and memorable image for fans to associate with their music.

In some cases, digipaks become iconic and memorable in their own right and be remembered long after the music itself has faded from popular consciousness. Examples of this include classic album covers like The Beatles' "Abbey Road", Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", and Nirvana's "Nevermind", all of which have become cultural touchstones and recognizable symbols of their respective eras.

Overall, while the importance of digipak covers may vary depending on the artist, genre, and era, they play a significant role in shaping the way music is perceived and remembered by audiences.

INSDIE

This detailed digipak plan was sketched before the editing process of the pak itself in order to know exactly what pictures I was using and where all the text was going to be placed. this pak was designed after incorporating different aspects of the indie rock digipaks I analysed, This included the theme of contrasting colours, flowers, and the iconic blended red electric guitar

On the other hand, this is a Spotify teaser created by connecting the themes of the digipak and music video, to allow the audience to get a quick view of what my other two media components entail.

  3.   Image: Other than the unusual image of a woman who seems to be wearing a helmet, this may warn audiences that this album is, not the usual from 'the goo goo dolls' which ultimately prepared audiences when realising this is a country pop album, which contrasts their usual indie rock, just the like colour scheme.

  1. Colour Scheme:  The colour scheme of the cover is primarily orange and turquoise, two very opposing colours which create a refreshing contrast. This mixture is quite common through differnent indie rock media products as the scheme connotes the genre. A more common mixture of contrasting colours is in concerts with red/blue lights.

   2.  typography: the typography of 'The Goo Goo Dolls' being larger and more 'futuristic' reveals this a later album after multiple successes and once the band is known as the focus selling point is on the star power of the band itself rather the release of the album.

  2. Visual aspects:  The phots on the digipak themselves really focus on Avril and making sure her persona is promoted, especially seen through her makeup and style, highlighting she is some sort of pop-rock / indie-rock singer, seen through her concert photo with a guitar while lights blind the camera, a perfectly static photo that captures all the movent and action of the moment

INDIE ROCK DIGIPAK ANALYSIS

  1. Colour Scheme:  The colour scheme of the cover is primarily pink and black, The use of pastel pink/red creates a nostalgic and feminine tone while also possibly referencing the theme of love and passion, while the black adds a touch of edginess and attitude that is consistent with Lavigne's persona as an artist.

1. Colour scheme: The colour scheme in this digipak is quite unusual. The minimalistic colour brings attention to the leak of purple flooding from the flowers. This brings in the Name of the album of 'Chaos In The Bloom' as purple is usually un unnatural pigment within nature and it is unlikely to be present.

2.  Visual Aspects: the typography of the digipak gives a sense of a more calming album, especially with the connotation of flowers and the more gentle feminine stereotypes it connotes. The sketch-type filter reinforces this idea while intending to give a more minimalistic aspect, helping to pull the focus into to flowers.

These were my three main insparations for my 'Iris' digipak, including two from the original band 'the goo goo dolls' to make sure I was implementing small details from differnt albums within the indie rock genre, including a single artist like Avil lavigne, instead of only bands.

MINIMALISTIC TYPOGRAPHY

In order to make sure my Digipak properly corresponded to my Indie rock target audience I incorporated some stereotypical iconography seen In multiple albums from the original band 'The Goo Goo Dolls' which were the flowers. Furthermore, by making this a pivotal icon in the digipak, it clearly links my media products as seen in the profile picture of 'Kie Wests' Instagram,m page where she is holding the flowers and staring straight into the camera to highlight a connection within the audience and artist, as well as in the music video itself where the flowers reveal the cyclical narrative when she meets her boyfriends while buying the flowers and when leaving them on the bench to convey the end of a chapter and Kie finally finding closure from her breakup.
